We've experienced our fair share of clubs throughout our 16 years playing soccer across Arizona and California, but one stands out as the worst by far. There were plenty of red flags along the way, but one incident in particular prompted me to speak out. During one practice, my then 8-year-old son, who was part of the B team, faced relentless harassment from the coach in front of the entire team. The coach repeatedly berated him for a play that had occurred repeatedly during the previous weekend's game, where my son wasn't even in the left-back position where the mistake had taken place. Despite my son's confusion, the coach didn't attempt to explain himself in a way that an 8-year-old could understand. Instead, he just raised his voice, escalating the situation. He instructed one of the team's most aggressive players to target my son until he "figured it out." This resulted in my son being subjected to three slide tackles and numerous shoulder charges. I allowed this to continue momentarily, knowing my son's resilience and intending to address it after practice. However, it was devastating to witness the coach telling the aggressive player to "beat him up" and "make him pay." This went on for about 15 minutes and severely impacted my son's confidence for some time. Furthermore, it became evident that the coach also played favorites, which added to the toxic environment within the team. It was utterly nonsensical to subject my child to such treatment for simply not understanding the coach's instructions or for mistakes he hadn't even made during the game. Yet, nothing was done to reprimand the coach, who continues to wreak havoc on the confidence of young players. Hope you have a better luck if you choose this club.

I was at dinner this evening with my family and in a nice Local Brewery, the whole Restaurant was in discust over the lack of respect for other customers. The children all in their SDSC uniforms running around screaming and disturbing the entire Wait staff. The parents not saying a word, I hope the Coaching is more productive then the parenting! We had an excellent experience with SDSC Surf for 2 years. Coach Josh Gerlt is great with younger players and helps his players to all grow and gives very equal playing time to all players. He coaches and teaches and does not yell and micromanage like we see our opponents coaches doing on the sidelines.

Terrible! Unless your kid is one of the best on the field plan on them losing all their self esteem and confidence by becoming a bench warmer. 15 minutes of playtime with only 2 subs while he left most everyone else on the field the whole game. No thanks!
